A New Year

Happy 2014! There have been quite a lot of changes since my last post but I’m finally back to creating art.

There was a big move from Baltimore back to the Detroit area. Then a frustrating period of unemployment to get through. Things smoothed out a bit until 2 days after Christmas when my Mom got ill and was taken from her assisted living home to the ER. She had pneumonia and sepsis and went from bad to worse very quickly. She died less than 3 days later, at 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 30th. I was sitting on her bedside looking right at her face when she took her last breath.

It’s been just over 2 weeks since she passed and we all miss her but we’re doing ok. I got back into the studio, made a new piece of art and also started a second one. It’s not always easy but you just have to keep going!

 Completed piece! Encaustic assemblage

Work in progress! It will be a companion piece to the one above.
